Fifth Note

One of the newest and freshest sounding bands on the block in Nagaland, Fifth Note have blazed a trail ever since they won Ticket To Hornbill in October 2019, performing at RCEMPA in Jotsoma. While progressive rock can run the risk of being self-indulgent, Fifth Note reach into some sort of primal urge, yet produce a polished sound on songs like “Here We Are” and “Misfortune.” Quick-paced and punctuated by shining synth work, the lyrical themes also put them in the gospel rock space. Currently comprising vocalist Samuel Thapa guitarist Gugu Sekhose, bassist AvituoYashu, keyboardist Victor Kath and drummer AvolieKire, Fifth Note walk between the lines of being old souls who love their classic rock as well as death metal fanatics. Throw in unexpected influences of pop and a background that includes cross-genre band Brainstorm Island and you know that Fifth Note are perhaps about keeping things ever changing when it comes to sound. The band believes in good music and even more in clean music, that even without alcohol or drugs, there’s plenty to enjoy at a music show. They are goodChristians and actively participates in church activities and events.
