The diversity of Nagaland and Naga folk music is perhaps best encapsulated in the straightforward yet enchanting songs of The Tetseo Sisters. Presenting an unhurried, potent blend of folk fusion, sisters Alune, Azi, Kuvelu, and Mutsevelu (Mercy) Tetseo have taken over stages all around the globe and across India ever since they were kids. Starting out in 1994, different versions of the group perform love songs as well as tunes rooted in Naga tribal tradition. Often considered the pride of Nagaland for their wide-reaching work, The Tetseo Sisters also dipped their feet into electro-folk, pop and world music, releasing their debut album Chapter 1: The Beginning in 2011 and their latest record A Slice of Li in early 2019. While their live shows are often purely vocal-oriented, The Tetseo Sisters call on brother and guitarist-producer Mhaseve K Tetseo to take things up a notch, incorporating guitar and electronic elements that get the crowd on their feet instantly. On stage, the sisters ensure they also represent Nagaland in terms of aesthetic, sporting colours and jewels of warrior Naga tribes.
